CAM’s CUSTOM/CONTRACT MANUFACTURING DIVISION specializes in the design, engineering and manufacturing of - custom machines - prototypes - sub assemblies – special process automation equipment and unique material handling systems. With nearly a century of machine design and manufacturing experience, CAM is especially suited to perform machine development work.

Expanding the Capabilities of our Standard Machines
Very often, our custom design/build projects grow out of our primary Electric Motor Manufacturing Equipment and Taping Machinery product lines. When there is no standard machine in our line to perform a customer’s application our custom design team steps in to conceptualize a machinery solution.

A Reliable Custom Machine Source
Many other custom projects come from the years of working relationships CAM has fostered with some of America’s biggest manufacturing companies. For these companies CAM is an extension of their own in-house plant engineering capability, providing a structured design-build process with progress milestones and process accountability.

Strategic Partners
Engineering innovation, technical proficiency, manufacturing quality and effective project management has always differentiated CAM from other equipment builders. By teaming up with strategic partners, we have been able to expand our own core technical, manufacturing and engineering capabilities in order to provide a complete, single-source, custom equipment solution for our customers.

Custom Automation Machine

CAM developed this fully automated, four process, production chain link assembly welding line to replaced three manual welding stations.
In less than 16 weeks, CAM designed and built a robotic paint and packaging line for processing and boxing armaments.

Working closely with the customer’s in-house engineering department, CAM’s design team created the above machine concept drawings that give a 3-D perspective of this custom bus ring taper. Our 3-D computer design software makes it easy for engineers and non-technical people to see and understand how the machine will function.

Budget and Justification
We deal with not only the design, mechanical and manufacturing aspects of your project, but also spend considerable time examining your project cost justification, budgeting and time parameters. We realize that the cost justification process goes beyond just labor savings and includes quality improvement, increased throughput, energy savings, operator safety considerations and much more.

Developing Your Concepts Into Working Machines
Maybe you have in-house engineering capabilities or process specialists who “know what they want” and seek our services to complete the engineering, do the calculations and build the prototype system. We can be an extension of your engineering capability and can electronically communicate specifications and assembly drawings seamlessly with your in-house team.

The machine’s design utilized 12 special chain assembly carriers to hold, move and present the chain links to the welding torch.

This high speed taping system automatically senses when the tape supply reel is running low and switches over production taping to the second taping unit without missing a beat. It then notifies the operator that a switch was made so that the first unit can be reloaded.

Lifting, flipping, rotating, holding and positioning heavy work pieces is often a custom machine application.

Taping applications often require custom tape heads, reel arrangements, encoders and guide systems to optimally perform.

Work with us on your next custom machine project and you’ll find that CAM Innovation has the discipline, abilities, diverse experience, engineering talent and manufacturing systems found in larger, more expensive firms.
